Wintery Ramblings
January 29, 2010
It’s been a really long time since I posted anything here on the blog. I have to apologise I have been fiddling about trying to get the basics of this website down so that I can move on with writing posts and have everything in one place.
My other excuse is that the holidays happened and it snowed both these things have made my start to the new yer a slow and fustratingly unproductive ! Alot of groundwork ahs been done with the technical stuff uploading this wordpress template to my host was exciting (geek alert!) but still needs quite a bit of stuff doing to it and possibly a new logo. I am impressed with the versitility and ease of making a site this way I can’t believe I hadn’t done it before!
Other things that have been happening,I have been working through stuff in my Heart of Business workbook and integrating the Rememberence into my life.(for you Integralists this is second face of God practice which was much laking in my integral spiritual practice.) This has given me new clarity and support but am impatient to have it done so I can get new stuff out to you guys.
How does any of this relate to Shiatsu? Well iIlove to relate evreything back to Shiatsu and Chinese medicine, so here goes…
Winter is the the of year of the Kidneys and Bladder, I wrote about this quite a bit here so I don’t want to go too deeply into it. The thing that relates to above ramblings is the nature of the time of year.
Like I said in my previous post on Winter its a time of slowing down, of reflection. There is stuff happening but this is at a very deep level. Subtle internal shifts, stuffs integrating forom the year gone. Like a lake in winter all external process’ slow to a stop as the creeping cold freezes them and creatures slow and seek deeper water. Only in the dark depths are the movements of the currents. Even the ducks tuck their heads in and move slowly. So it is with humans, as we too are connected to the Tao and the rhythms of nature and cannot waver to far from it.
It feels like nothing is getting done but the work is getting done underneath the contemplation the reflection and integrating all that has happened in the last year.
It is suprising how often I have to learn to learn this lesson that to dash around like a mad thing is often better mitigated by taking ten minutes of meditation or a wee sleep. Hell, what I was douing won’t have got done any faster, in fact probably worse or I would have hopped around half doing loads of other shite . That ten minutes just adds to your day giving your mind a reboot and enabling you to refocus on what s most important.
What so you think whats your thoughts on winter and getting stuff done? Fustrated ? enjoying the chance to snuggle inside with a hot chocolate? Let me know in the comments!

Hey Rob!
Welcome back – not that you went anywhere of course… I totally agree with you about this time of the year and the need to enter a period of reflection and stillness. I have also been doing just that. If you listen to your body and are in tune with the natural cycle then it seems completely natural to stand back awhile and contemplate – to do anything else at this time of year is to deny your inner wisdom (plus it’s cold out there and cosy inside!).
It’s so easy to get carried away with the momentum of ‘life’ and business and personally I’m a terrible one for getting carried away with my over-excitement/enthusiasm about Shiatsu and health and life – but if you don’t stop and take stock sometimes then you’ll start to forget where it is you’re heading! I could have joined you in the ‘Frustration camp’ at the start of January, but then I remembered to stop, breathe, and just BE for a while… whilst indulging in soups and casseroles and the odd film with hot chocolate…bliss!
